The Bishops and Mary Parker all had an abiding love for and understanding of animals and filled their homes and properties with a variety of animals throughout their lives. Their love of animals manifested in the establishment of the Bishop Animal Shelter, which is funded by a separate Trust for operating support. Lillian Bishop was especially known for her life-long love of horses, and she was often seen riding side-saddle around Bradenton.
